To apply for the Development Programme, you will need to have:

  • A Full Class 1 Drivers Licence
  • Your own transport is preferred
  • A willingness to learn and a can-do attitude
  • Please be aware that Dynes undertakes pre-employment drug testing
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on your own

Interested in becoming a truck driver? Or working in the Transport Industry?

The Dynes Development Academy is for those under 25, with a full Class 1 Licence, interested in becoming a truck driver and gaining practical skills and experience in the transport industry. Are you looking to get out there doing it instead of being stuck in a classroom? Do you have a can-do attitude and willingness to learn? Then the Dynes Cadet Academy could be for you. Current legislation requires a full class 1 driver’s licence holder to be a minimum of 18 years of age before sitting their class 2L licence, however, we do consider applicants who are under 18 who we can prepare for the practical test on reaching 18 years.

Before you apply for the Dynes Development Academy:

If you bring the right attitude, we’ll invest in you. When you join Dynes, you become part of the Dynes family and we will mentor you through the process. At Dynes we value practical hard work, being accountable, straight up and whanāu oriented. With the right skill set, it usually takes a minimum of 30 months to become a competent Class 5 Driver.

  • Your licences in a time frame that is appropriate to you. We offer First Aid Courses, OSH Forklift, F endorsement, wheels, tracks and roller endorsements, licencing up to class 5
  • An ability to assess and identify risks and hazards, as required by the industry and apply safe work practices.
  • The ability to manage yourself as a professional, independent driver; specifically, being able to manage driving performance, work time and personal presentation.
  • The ability to communicate effectively as part of a team.
  • The skills to produce legible and accurate documentation in accordance with the legal and organisational requirements of the transport sector.
  • The practical knowledge and skills needed to handle, load and unload goods appropriately and safely.
  • Knowledge and ability to safely drive and operate a forklift and safely operate a rigid or B-train Unit.
  • The ability to show flexibility in their approach to tasks and problems.
  • Knowledge of every operation and aspect of the Dynes company.
  • Gained life skills and personal growth from regular workshops and mentoring.
